Over View
With the widespread penetration of the Internet has resulted in multiple and varying forms of devices being used for communication like never before. The telecom operators are moving to provide quadruple play services over multiple access technologies and explore the potential of providing advanced services. In order to provision and manage these advanced services along with the multiple access devices, the telecom operators are turning to remote management of the devices to reduce the support costs, customer churn and also provide better user experience to their customers.
TR-069 also known as CWMP (CPE WAN Management Protocol) is an application layer protocol for remote management of end-user devices. TR-069 is a technical specification from Broadband Forum (earlier known as DSL Forum) and defines the protocol for communication between a CPE and Auto-Configuration Server (ACS) that encompasses secure auto-configuration as well as other CPE management functions within a common framework.
The CWMP SDK and toolkit provides the foundation for building any of the CPE devices using the corresponding data models. The SDK also includes support for STUN for CPE devices that are operating behind a NAT gateway. The various CPE devices that can make use of the CWMP SDK are residential gateways, Set Top Boxes, IPTV and many more.
